Ca' La Bionda's Casalvegri 2022 is one of the most authentic, terroir-driven interpretations of Valpolicella Classica. In the glass it is a deep, bright ruby red. The nose is fine and layered: ripe cherry, sour cherry and small red fruits intertwine with floral notes of violet, aromatic herbs and light hints of spice. The palate is balanced and deep, with well-defined yet elegant tannins, lively freshness and a long, savoury, harmonious finish. A wine that combines tradition and precision, clearly expressing the character of the hills of Valpolicella Classica.
Production method: Conventional. The grapes are a blend of Corvina 70%, Corvinone 20%, Rondinella 5% and Molinara 5%, from the "Casalvegri" vineyard in the hills of Valpolicella Classica, on calcareous and marly soils. Hand-harvested with careful bunch selection. Fermented in concrete and stainless steel vats at controlled temperature, with about 15–20 days of maceration on the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for about 18 months in 30 hl oak casks, followed by about 6 months in bottle before release, fully in keeping with the cellar's traditional style.
Food pairings: Ideal with Venetian and Italian dishes: flavourful pasta and rice dishes, roast white and red meats, grilled meats, rabbit, semi-aged and aged cheeses. Also excellent throughout a meal.
