Sassicaia is a Tuscan icon that balances power and refinement. This wine seduces with masterful balance and a bouquet that speaks of the Bolgheri terroir with every sip, making it one of the world's most celebrated Italian wines. It comes from a 75-hectare vineyard with exceptionally well-suited vineyards, where the parcels exhibit diverse characteristics, with limestone formations and a high stone content—a characteristic that gives the name "sassicaia" its name. The soils have a west- and southwest-facing exposure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, with maceration lasting approximately 10 days. Tenuta San Guido's Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC is aged in French oak barriques for 24 months, followed by bottle aging.
Conventional Production Method : Manual harvest between September and October 2022, harvested earlier than many other vintages to preserve freshness and refinement. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (28-30°C) for approximately 2 weeks, with maceration lasting up to 20 days for some Cabernet lots. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Aged for 25 months in French oak barrels (40% new, 40% new, 20% new; 95% French, 5% Hungarian/Slavonian), with occasional bâtonnage to build texture. Final blending in stainless steel with micro-oxygenation, followed by further bottle aging before release in 2025.
