Aldo Conterno's Quartetto Langhe Rosso 2022 is a wine that interprets the elegance of the Langhe with a modern twist, blending multiple grape varieties in a precise and harmonious balance. It displays a deep, intense ruby red. The nose reveals a complex and refined bouquet: ripe black fruit—cherry, plum, and blackberry—intertwine with notes of sweet spice, cocoa, tobacco, and subtle balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is enveloping and structured, with soft, well-integrated tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, persistent, and velvety finish. A red wine of great character, capable of combining power and finesse.
Production Method: Conventional. The grapes are a blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot , sourced from select vineyards in the Langhe. The harvest is manual, with rigorous bunch selection. Fermentation takes place separately in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with maceration calibrated according to the grape variety. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels , followed by a period of bottle aging before release, to achieve complexity and balance.
Pairings: Ideal with full-bodied, flavorful dishes: roast red meats, braised meats, light game, stews, mature cheeses, and mushroom dishes. Also excellent as a meditation wine.
