Barbera d'Alba 2023 by Bartolo Mascarello is an authentic and fresh expression of Barbera in the Langhe, with a traditional and territorial edge. In the glass, it displays a brilliant purple-ruby color. On the nose, aromas of fresh red cherry, raspberry, and blackberry emerge, accompanied by delicate floral notes (violet) and hints of spice. On the palate, it offers a dynamic and balanced palate, with good acidity, gentle tannins, and a clean, fragrant finish. A pleasant and versatile wine, designed to be enjoyed young, yet with personality and class.
Conventional Production Method . The grapes are 100% Barbera , sourced from the Mascarello winery's vineyards, traditionally located in the San Lorenzo vineyard and other small estate parcels. The harvest is manual with rigorous bunch selection. Fermentation takes place in concrete or glass-lined concrete tanks for approximately 10-12 days, under temperature control. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for approximately 20 months in large barrels (old barrels), without the use of new barriques, respecting the winery's traditional style.
Pairings: It pairs well with lighter Piedmontese and Italian dishes: agnolotti with ragù, light braised meats, roasted white meats, mushroom-based dishes, light red meats, semi-mature cheeses, cured meats, and hearty home-cooked dishes. Excellent as a companion wine with simple, rustic dishes.
