Elvio Cogno's Barbera d'Alba "Bricco Merli" 2023 is one of the most authentic and territorial interpretations of Barbera in the Langhe. In the glass, it presents a deep and brilliant ruby color. The aromatic profile is clear and inviting: crisp cherry, blackberry, fresh plum, and delicate floral notes, with subtle hints of spice in the background. On the palate, it is vibrant and juicy, supported by a characteristic, perfectly integrated, lively acidity, soft tannins, and a fresh, clean, and persistent finish. An elegant and dynamic Barbera, capable of combining immediacy and depth.

Production Method: Conventional. The grapes are 100% Barbera , sourced from the “Bricco Merli” vineyard, located in the Langhe on calcareous-marly soils. The harvest is manual with careful selection of the bunches. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for approximately 10–12 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages mainly in steel tanks and partly in large oak barrels for several months, to preserve the varietal freshness and drinkability, followed by a brief aging in the bottle before release.

Pairings: Perfect with traditional Piedmontese cuisine: tajarin with ragù, agnolotti del plin, roasted white meats, cured meats, and semi-mature cheeses. Also excellent with gourmet pizza and flavorful yet subtle dishes.
