Roccolo Grassi’s Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2019 is an iconic wine made from old vines in the vineyard of the same name, an expression of power and sophistication that has established the winery as one of the top producers in Valpolicella. This deep ruby red releases an intense bouquet of black cherry, plum, and cherries in alcohol, with notes of tobacco, chocolate, and sweet spices like black pepper. Aged for 26 months in barrique, it offers a robust yet incredibly balanced palate, with sweet tannins and a freshness that balances its 16.5% alcohol, closing with a long, complex finish. The rich, concentrated 2019 vintage makes this Amarone a wine of great character, with aging potential through 2045, ideal for accompanying important dishes or for a meditative tasting.

Production Method The grapes come from the Roccolo Grassi vineyard, 4 hectares of old vines (30-35 years) on clayey-calcareous soils with volcanic components, at 200-250 meters above sea level. Manual harvest at the end of September, with natural drying of the grapes in the fruit cellar until January to concentrate sugars and aromas. Fermentation in steel at 28-30 °C for 25-30 days, with prolonged maceration. Aged for 26 months in French oak barriques (first, second and third passage), followed by 24 months in the bottle. Production limited to approximately 10,000 bottles.

Pairings Game dishes (e.g. wild boar stew), important red meats, mature cheeses, dark chocolate.
