Guido Porro’s 2021 Barolo Vignarionda is a wine that embodies the essence of the celebrated Serralunga d’Alba cru, a vineyard inherited in 2010 and replanted in 2011, which produces wines of extraordinary power and finesse. This garnet red with orange highlights releases a complex bouquet of ripe cherry, dried rose, tar, and fine spices, with a hint of damp earth and minerality. Aged for 30 months in oak barrels, it offers a rich, structured palate, with vigorous yet elegant tannins and a long, persistent finish. The balanced, classic 2021 vintage gives this Barolo a depth that makes it ideal for aging through 2045, perfect for accompanying robust dishes or for a meditative tasting.
Production Method The Nebbiolo grapes come from the Vignarionda vineyard, on clayey-calcareous soils rich in fossil Sant'Agata marl, at 350-400 meters above sea level, with south-east exposure. Manual harvest in October, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in steel tanks at controlled temperature (28-30 °C) for 15-20 days, with long maceration on the skins. Aged for 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by 12 months in the bottle. Production limited to approximately 3,000-4,000 bottles.
Pairings : Braised beef in Barolo, game (e.g. venison), mature cheeses, white truffle dishes.
