Antinori's Pèppoli Chianti Classico 2024 is a wine that expresses the essence of Sangiovese and the Chianti Classico terroir, produced on the Pèppoli estate, 5 km from Tignanello. This ruby red with violet highlights offers a bouquet of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, with floral notes of violet and nuances of aromatic herbs and sweet spices. Aged for nine months in Slavonian oak barrels and a small portion in barrique, it stands out for its vibrant and savory palate, with soft tannins and a fresh, persistent finish. The warm yet well-managed 2023 vintage makes this wine a versatile classic, ideal for those seeking an authentic, ready-to-drink Chianti with a touch of elegance.
Production Method The grapes, primarily Sangiovese with small percentages of Merlot and Syrah, come from the 50 hectares of vineyards on the Pèppoli estate, on stony, mineral-rich soils with an east/northeast exposure. Manual harvesting, fermentation in stainless steel at 26-28°C for 7 days for the Sangiovese and 12-15 days for the complementary varieties, with maceration to extract soft tannins. After malolactic fermentation, completed by winter, the wine ages for 9 months in large Slavonian oak barrels (80%) and in barriques and stainless steel (20%), followed by a brief period in the bottle.
Pairings: Savoury first courses such as tagliatelle with ragù, legume soups, white meats, Tuscan cured meats.
