Johanni is Fuligni's pure Merlot, from an estate vineyard in Montalcino. Deep ruby red; the nose shows plum and raspberry, followed by toasty notes of chocolate, forest floor and leather. The palate is fleshy and full-bodied, with polished tannins, spice and cedar, and a long finish.
Production method: Aged for about three years in French Allier oak tonneaux, then about a year in bottle before release.
Food pairings: Lamb or venison, wild boar ragù, porcini mushroom risotto, bistecca alla fiorentina (Florentine T-bone steak), aged cheeses.
