Montevertine's Sergio Manetti Riserva 2021 Magnum is a tribute to founder Sergio Manetti, a wine reserved for the finest vintages to celebrate his pioneering vision of Sangiovese. This garnet red with orange highlights, presented in an elegant magnum format, unleashes an intense bouquet of brandied cherries, plums, tobacco, fine spices, and a hint of leather, with a minerality that reflects Radda's unique terroir. Aged for 30 months in oak barrels, it offers a rich and structured palate, with elegant tannins and a long, complex finish. The balanced and fresh 2021 vintage, combined with the magnum format that favors a slower and more harmonious evolution, gives this Riserva extraordinary depth, with aging potential until 2048, ideal for collectors or special occasions.
Production Method The grapes, selected from the best plots of the 18 hectares of vineyards, grow on clay-limestone soils with marl, at an altitude of 425 meters above sea level. Harvesting is manual, with spontaneous fermentation in 150-hl concrete vats for approximately 25-30 days, including malolactic fermentation. Aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels (5.5-18 hl), followed by 12 months in French Allier oak barriques for a further 6-12 months, and finally 12 months in bottle. The Magnum format, with a limited production (estimated at approximately 500-700 bottles), allows for more gradual aging, preserving freshness and intensifying aromatic complexity compared to the standard bottle.
Pairings : Stewed game, braised beef in Chianti, mature cheeses, truffle dishes.
