Castello di Monsanto 's Chianti Classico Riserva 2021 DOCG is a refined expression of Sangiovese at its finest, enriched by the presence of complementary varietals such as Canaiolo and Colorino. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby color, verging on garnet, revealing a complex aromatic progression: ripe cherry, dark berries, floral notes, and sweet spices, enveloped by a subtle minerality and hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it displays structure and finesse, with well-defined tannins and a vibrant freshness that supports an elegant and persistent finish. It is a wine that reflects the terroir of the estate's galestro and rolling hills, inviting slow, enjoyable enjoyment.
Conventional Production Method . The grapes are a blend of 90% Sangiovese / 10% Canaiolo & Colorino. The harvest is manual, with rigorous bunch selection. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled, truncated cone-shaped steel tanks, with a délestage system and pumping over for approximately 18-20 days. Aged for approximately 18 months in French barriques (or second-use tonneaux) before bottling.
Pairings : Perfect with traditional Tuscan dishes and beyond: roast red meats, stewed wild boar, roast lamb, braised meats, and mature cheeses with character. It also pairs well with savory mushroom and truffle dishes. Ideal for enjoying leisurely with friends.
