The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino “Vigna Soccorso” Magnum DOCG from Az. Agr. Tiezzi is a masterpiece of elegance and territoriality in the only format that enhances its preservation and gradual evolution: the 1.5-liter Magnum. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby color, tending toward garnet with oxygenation. The nose unfolds sophisticated aromas of ripe cherry, wild blackberry, black raspberry, licorice, sweet tobacco, and notes of leather and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is full-bodied yet fluid: refined and well-integrated tannins, lively acidity that supports the structure, and a long, persistent finish that leaves mineral and salty traces, a sign of the vineyard's vitality. The Magnum format amplifies the aging experience, ensuring greater harmony and slower evolution: ideal for collectors or prestigious occasions where the wine takes center stage.
Conventional Production Method . The grapes are 100% Sangiovese, sourced from the "Vigna Soccorso" vineyard, located at a high altitude (approximately 530 m above sea level) on complex soils of sandstone, marl, and volcanic sand. The harvest is entirely manual, with rigorous bunch selection. Fermentation is traditional (concrete or glass-lined concrete tanks) with long maceration (approximately 4 weeks) in the winery's classic style. Aging is prolonged: approximately 42 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by further bottle aging before release.
Pairings : Perfect with dishes with great structure and depth: braised beef, game (wild boar, venison, stewed lamb), complex roasts, rich aged cheeses, and dishes with truffles and ripe porcini mushrooms. Also excellent as a meditation wine, paired with a fine cigar or for slow, thoughtful tastings.
