Bartolo Mascarello’s 2020 Barolo is a masterful interpretation of the Langhe tradition, a blend of grapes from the Cannubi, San Lorenzo, Ruè and Rocche dell’Annunziata crus. This ruby red with garnet hues releases an intense bouquet of ripe red fruits, rose petals, sweet spices and a touch of wet earth. Aged for 32 months in large oak barrels, it offers a rich and enveloping palate, with silky tannins and a freshness that balances the generosity of the warm vintage. A Barolo of great balance, which opens pleasantly but promises a spectacular evolution in the decades to come.
Production Method: Conventional, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks for 30-40 days with submerged cap (not used in 2020), maturation 32 months in large Slavonian oak barrels of 25-50 hl, refinement in bottle for at least 12 months
Pairings: Game, braised meat in Barolo, aged cheeses
